SENabling Education is recruiting for a client based in Manchester for an accomplished Executive Headteacher to provide strategic leadership across a growing group of specialist schools and provisions.

This appointment is suited to an established Headteacher or executive leader with the credibility to improve educational quality across multiple settings while supporting responsible organisational growth.

The successful candidate will work across schools, sites and leadership teams, ensuring that each provision maintains strong safeguarding, regulatory compliance and educational outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Set and communicate a clear education strategy across multiple provisions.
  • Hold Headteachers and senior leaders accountable for school performance.
  • Lead school improvement, quality assurance and inspection readiness.
  • Ensure consistency in safeguarding, curriculum, assessment and compliance.
  • Coach and develop Headteachers and wider senior leadership teams.
  • Identify underperformance and implement effective improvement plans.
  • Support the opening, mobilisation and integration of new provisions.
  • Maintain educational quality during periods of expansion and organisational change.
  • Contribute to growth planning, due diligence and new-site development.
  • Work closely with governance, regional directors, commissioners and external agencies.
  • Use performance data to evaluate quality, risk and organisational impact.
  • Ensure that commercial and operational decisions remain aligned with pupil outcomes.

The successful candidate will demonstrate

  • Successful experience as a substantive Headteacher, Executive Headteacher or equivalent.
  • Evidence of improving schools or specialist provisions.
  • Experience leading across multiple sites, schools or leadership teams.
  • Strong knowledge of SEND, safeguarding and education regulation.
  • Significant inspection and school-improvement experience.
  • Confidence operating at strategic, governance and organisational level.
  • Strong commercial and operational awareness.
  • QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • NPQH, NPQEL or equivalent executive leadership experience.

Experience supporting new-school openings, acquisitions, turnarounds or significant provision growth would be particularly valuable.
